The poem that follows was written by me at the age of 14 years old and got an award in a nationwide creative writing competition. Through this poem I would like to stress out the need of this generation to realize that the purpose of their life is not to search for happiness in the piles of money, but to enjoy and appreciate every little moment, to do their best and trust that whatever they desire is already on the way of manifesting itself. This generation, more than any other generation so far needs to believe and have faith in themselves, to like and love themselves and lastly to have dreams and keep creating dreams and have the courage to pursue them, always!!
Talkin’ Bout My Generation
I have a question in my mind
And I keep asking myself
“Why are we here?”
“What is the purpose of life?”
Is the purpose of life the
Requisition of more and more money?
Some people love to be rich
And work and work to
Make more and more.
People like this don’t know
What life means. They pile up their money
To last for their next life.
They do not know what real happiness is,
They do not understand that
There are things that money cannot buy.
Life is short and when you die
Everything remains behind. It is then that you realize
That your money doesn’t get you any prize.
If you really understand it
And you change your life
You will live and be happy.
